A chatbot is…

It’s important to note that chatbots, especially those based on the bigger foundation models, can give the impression that they know something about the world; that they’ve experienced it in some meaningful way. But they don’t know anything. They repeat back to us variations of text that humans have written. This isn’t a bad thing. It’s just important to remember that they don’t have any experience of the world, regardless of what they might say about it.
